Z Is For Zinnia.

Zinnia.

Zinnias make for wonderful summertime garden flowers, attracting all kinds of pollinators and many birds which feed on their seeds. Snails (and slugs) also seem to like them, not only the flowers but especially the seedlings. It’s kind of a spring tradition for me, sow zinnias and hand-pick snails and slugs around them every night until they grow to a certain stage or until snails estivate. This photo was taken in November, when snails are active again, and some zinnias are still standing.

Oh, what a poignant and beautiful photo! Click for full size.

The Snail’s Boudoir: red velvet upholstery and gold filigree accessories, romantically dim lighting. Beautiful!

    rq,

    The Snail’s Boudoir

Oh, I hadn’t thought of that, I think you just gave my photo the best title! :D

And no, I wouldn’t mind at all, feel free to use it as a background.

    Giliell

Flash at dusk. That’s something I love to play with, and actually I think I first got the idea from Caine many many years ago.

Oh, yes, it is Z already! And sadly there are no more letters in the Portuguese alphabet so this is indeed the end.

Thank you, Caine, for hosting this, and thanks to everyone who viewed and commented. This was way more fun than I anticipated!

A magnificent ending for a beautiful series.

The red is so vivid that is almost hurts. Also, as snails (slugs are) aren’t very common here, it’s always interesting to see them.

In general, it was interesting to see flora and fauna of Portugal, often up close.

Thank you, Ice Swimmer! Glad you found it interesting.

I’d me more than happy to send you all the snails in my garden right now :D. I mean, I love them most of the year, but in spring I hate them, they eat every thing I don’t want them to eat and they drive me crazy. I’ve had to sow basil three times already because of them!
