The grey on the head almost looks blue. I love how he looks like he’s got spectacles perched on his beak.
One thing I love about old male chaffinches is how intense their plumage can become. So much that the grey on the head looks blueish, the brown looks reddish and the grey around the tail gains tints of green and blue. They sing loudly and beautifully too.
