A fledgling Gray Catbird, who wanted his/her parents very much. The little one was very attracted to the shutter noise, which brought them closer to me. Click for full size.
I hear them now and then, but I have never seen one at home, and only rarely when out and about. Poor little baby, he wasn’t very good at flying, and he really did want a parent, I don’t think he cared much about what shape they came in. :D

I’ve seen a few of these that were raised by sparrows -- quite a struggle to keep thei much larger ‘adopted’ young fed.

That is so cool! We hear them from time to time but rarely ever see them. I love photo #5, “What is that? Will you feed me?”

Awww. Catbirds are one of the few that recognize cowbird eggs, and break them, then toss them from the nest.

I love the textures of the plumage.
