Donald J. Queeg.

I was reading about the latest feverish paranoia spilling from the Tiny Tyrant, over the horrible lack of loyalty on the part of Sessions, why that evil man, not protecting his tyrant! Trump now wants Sessions gone, and wants him replaced with someone who will fire Mueller, then go crazy prosecuting the Clintons and anyone else Queeg Trump doesn’t like.

While I was reading, this particular scene from the Caine Mutiny kept playing in my head. This is very much how I see the Tiny Tyrant these days.

Trump publicly humiliates Jeff Sessions, demands arbitrary prosecution of political opponents.

It’s not even fun watching them turn on eachother and eat eachothers’ faces. I thought it would be, but it’s just sad. They could be spending that effort making america great again, or something.

Trump is seriously unglued, and this is not a matter of speculation, either. It’s cold fact, in front of everyones’ faces. That fucking speech he gave to kids? Talking about millionaires and orgies? Wanting peoples’ heads for a perceived lack of loyalty? Mentally, he’s sliding down the slope, and if people keep refusing to take this seriously, we are going to be in more fucking trouble than we can imagine.

Precisely. He’ll keep replacing his servants until he finds one who will do exactly what he wants. And it’s just a matter of time before that happens. People need to wake the fuck up.

And in the meantime, no one is running the fucking country. Trump is still obsessed with the election, obsessed with the fact the Clintons are still alive, and wants nothing more than to act the tyrant, literally, pointing his finger here and there, and having people kneel in blind adoration and obeisance. Jesus Fuck, this is no time to be complacent, or think it will all work out.

Fun with differing cultural signifiers, no. 94: when I read the headline, the mental image I got had nothing to do with The Caine Mutiny and everything to do with Red Dwarf. I had a lovely mental image of Trump standing in front of a huge crowd, pulling off his (obviously fake rubber) face to reveal Bernie Sanders who says “We are talking jape of the decade”. And so on.

Ah well, it was nice for a moment.

I’m kinda glad that the angry cheeto hasn’t actually tried to put any of his bizzare ideas into effect. It’s bad enough watching McConnell and Ryan playing tweedledum and tweedlecorruptasspants. I pox on all of them!

It’s true, what Marcus said -- there’s no satisfaction in watching the implosion. A lot of dread for what comes next, but also inevitability and doom. Because they’re not kicking each other and then improving, they’re kicking each other and then kucking everything else, then kicking each other some more. It’s more than a little disgusting, if you ask me. Not worth the ‘I told you so’ or the promises of ‘sure he’ll make things worse but people will rally and it will get better’. Anyone who can still gloat about how badly Trump and co. are doing is a pure, unmitigated asshole.

Truth. It should be more than obvious to anyone that things will never get better, and we’re sliding into a pit of insanity here, where not one consequence is remotely good.

It will get stranger still when he rediscovers Stalinist propaganda and starts erasing disgraced supporters from past photographs and other media. A bit like the 1984 revisionism, this would be a very Trump thing to try in the age of the internet. Oh, actually I just realised what would happen every time someone came up with an unaltered image showing Trump with [Persona Non Grata]: “Fake news!!!!!!!!!!” Oh well, we’re half way there already, I guess.

Speaking of strange, from the article:

Trump began by asking why Sessions isn’t investigating the baseless notion that the Clinton campaign colluded with Ukraine — a claim Sean Hannity has been pushing on his Fox News show.

We seem to have reached to point where pure, unalloyed darkness is calling the kettle black while it’s actually looking in a mirror.

I was thinknig Red Dwarf, too, although I simply assume it’s because I’m an uncultured oaf. (No idea if the Mutiny qualifies) At any rate, I rather think Holly would never have taken things as far as Trump has for the sake of a joke, so I’m not getting my hopes up for surprise unmaskings.

I thought of this essay by Jim Wright of Stonekettle station blog :

Discussing The Caine Mutiny with parallels between Queeg and Sen. & 2008 Presidential nominee McCain. There could well be a similar case for trump except for Trump being “..a once respected figure of trust and authority,” maybe?
