I love the call of the mourning dove. Such a lovely thing to hear in the morning. This one looks young to me… the tail seems short for a full-grown one, but maybe I just can’t see it due to the mistiness of the background. Lovely bird.
Oh, no, this was an adult male, buried deep in the Spruce tree. I love Mourning Doves, and I’m so glad they are back. They were driven out some years back when the Eurasian Collared Doves showed up, but they are finally back, and in healthy numbers. I love listening to them early in the morning and into evening. Every now and then, one or two will be outside my studio window, with their plaintive song.
