I’m not sure what trying too hard means. I don’t do anything different, but my mood alters with B&W.

I love the horseshoe on old wood. Lots of texture and contrast. I wish I could shoot B&W like that. Mine never seem to come out the way I imagine in my head.
Voyager, I really think it’s a matter of mood. Cloudy or stormy days are good for B&W, to pull you out of colour and into detail. Today, feeling a bit melancholy and suffering from a bout of age-related crankiness, as well as it being cloudy all lent to the mood.
