Also, I recognize the plant in picture #2 (is it this?), I’m pretty sure it’s something I do battle with every year, since it has a complicated underground root system and insists on trying to take everything over. However, it is also supposedly edible and smells nice (if you rub the leaves).

I don’t think it’S ground elder because of the leaves, but that one grows here in abundance as well, but fortunately not in the garden.
