A Michigan man shouting “Trump” attacked an immigrant cab driver Saturday, mlive.com reports.
Yemaj Adem, an Ethiopian immigrant, described the rage he encountered last weekend after a man, later identified as Jacob David Holtzlander, jumped into his cab along with five women. Adem said he assumed Hotzlander was with the women, but later discovered otherwise.
According to Adem, Holtzlander—whom Adem said appeared drunk—became agitated when the cab driver informed him his offer of $10 would not be enough to complete the trip.
“The first punch, I was surprised,” Adem told mlive.com. “I’ve never experienced this from a fare. Five years now and I’ve never had an issue.”
“When I heard that Trump word, I knew this was something different,” he added.

ROUND LAKE HEIGHTS, Ill. (WLS) —Officials at a middle school far north suburban Round Lake Heights are investigating a comment made to an 11-year-old Hispanic student by a school employee. The sixth-grader said a school employee got upset at him and made a reference to deportation.
“It’s like she wants me to go back to Mexico. It’s like she doesn’t even want Mexicans here,” the student said.
Relatives asked that the student not be identified. He said the teacher’s aide’s comment cut deep.
“She said that ‘I can’t wait until they ship you back.’ I kind of felt sad and mad, like at the same time,” he said.
He said the aide made the comment while he sat in all-day detention. He said she was upset that he kept fidgeting in his chair. Afterward he said he reported what happened to a teacher.

Ladue Police are investigating an incident where a black student at Ladue Horton Watkins High School was allegedly burned by a white student with a glue gun at school on Tuesday, November 10, two days after Donald Trump was elected U.S. president following a racially divisive campaign.
Ladue Police Chief Rich Wooten told The American that the youth’s mother, Lynette Hamilton, reported the incident and police are “currently investigating.”
[…]
Dozens of Ladue high School students participated in a school walkout and march on Wednesday, November 16, responding to this and other reported racist incidents that took place following the shocking presidential election.
Also on November 10, a group of white students were witnessed chanting “Trump, Trump, Trump,” toward black students on a Ladue school bus. One white male took the hazing further and said all black students should “sit in the back of the bus,” according to Tajah Walker, 15, who was targeted in the incident.
Two students were disciplined for their actions. However, Walker said during Wednesday’s protest that one of the students who were disciplined happily bragged about no longer being suspended on Monday because his mother “got him out of it.”

Sounds like an immigrant to me. Just one of the earlier waves. And a criminal, clearly, since assault and battery are illegal. Maybe they’ll deport him?

All of these reports scare me. In that I wonder if they actually represent things getting worse post Trump, or simply that they’re more newsworthy post Trump.

I’m afraid this is just the tip of the proverbial iceberg. Hate crimes have been spiking everywhere, and a lot of people are freaking over the one here.
