White Lives Matter…

White Lives Matter has hit the big time, they’ve been noticed and classified by SPLC as a hate group. At first, I was inclined to be dismissive, just another bunch of disgruntled bigots, but it looks more serious than that.

Activists with the “White Lives Matter” movement will be aligned with other white nationalist groups like the KKK or skinheads, according to the Southern Poverty Law Center’s “hate map.”

The map is released each year to show hotbeds of racist activity across the United States. Heidi Beirich, head of the SPLC’s Intelligence Project, told VICE News this week that the “movement” is “clearly white supremacists” who should instead be operating under the slogan “only white lives matter.”

According to an SPLC report from earlier this month, the Black Lives Matter movement came out of a response to the shooting of Trayvon Martin and advocates largely for accountability and equal rights by law enforcement.

The White Lives Matter movement, by contrast, goes beyond what mainstream conservatives have advocated as an “all lives matter” position. Instead, their group is lead by 40-year-old Rebecca Barnette of Tennessee. Barnette also serves as the vice president of the women’s division of the racist skinhead group Aryan Strikeforce. They promote a pro-whiteness agenda, claiming that the race is under attack from immigration, integration and other race-mixing.

Barnette’s focus is to create a “new world” for whites, where they can be safe from the dangers of persecution from non-whites and non-Christians. The SPLC cites a post from Barnette on a Russian social networking site used by many white supremacists and neo-Nazis in which she claims Jews and Muslims have formed an alliance “to commit genocide of epic proportions” of the white race. Now is the time, she adds in the same post, for “the blood of our enemies [to] soak our soil to form new mortar to rebuild our landmasses.”

These groups are out in full force, recruiting and advocating for their support of whiteness. Just last week, armed white supremacists stood outside of an NAACP headquarters in protest, waving Confederate flags and “White Lives Matter” banners along with signs with slogans frequently used in the white supremacist movement.

    It’s called “disneyland”

I can’t think of a stronger motivation for a multinational space agency collaboration to immediately start work on extraterrestrial colonization.

Where in the hell do they think they are going to build this grand new “world”?

    Where the B Ark “lands”.
(Thinks about this for a moment…)
“Pssst! What planet is this? … Oh. Ah, er, oops, it has ‘landed’. Hereabouts.”

The SPLC cites a post from Barnette on a Russian social networking site used by many white supremacists and neo-Nazis

This ^ struck me as being very odd, but as they are at home using a Russian site, they should really, really take advantage:
Trump Presidency: Forget Canada, Go to Russia! If that land grab deal is still good, they can all leave, and build their world in Russia.

Also at the SPLC, Black Lives Matter Is Not a Hate Group:

    […]
Many of its harshest critics claim that Black Lives Matter’s very name is anti-white, hence the oft-repeated rejoinder “all lives matter.” This notion misses the point entirely. Black lives matter because they have been marginalized throughout our country’s history and because white lives have always mattered more in our society. As BLM puts it, the movement stands for “the simple proposition that ‘black lives also matter.’”

The backlash to BLM, in some ways, reflects a broad sense of unease among white people who worry about the cultural changes in the country and feel they are falling behind in a country that is rapidly growing more diverse in a globalizing world. We consistently see this phenomenon in surveys showing that large numbers of white people believe racial discrimination against them is as pervasive, or more so, than it is against African Americans.

It’s the same dynamic that researchers at Harvard Business School described in a recent study: White people tend to see racism as a zero-sum game, meaning that gains for African Americans come at their expense. Black people see it differently. From their point of view, the rights pie can get bigger for everyone.

Black Lives Matter is not a hate group. But the perception that it is racist illustrates the problem. Our society as a whole still does not accept that racial injustice remains pervasive. And, unfortunately, the fact that white people tend to see race as a zero-sum game may actually impede progress.

This [using a Russian site] struck me as being very odd

I just took a look at the SPLC’s ‘White Lives Matter’. It says the “Russian social networking site [is] favored by white supremacists and neo-Nazis for its lack of censorship”. (I won’t name or link-to the site.)

I seem to recall that site is one which frequently hosts links-to illegally ripped DVD / CDs et al.

I seem to recall that site is one which frequently hosts links-to illegally ripped DVD / CDs et al.

Google has even more links. Every social site has links to ripped IP.

As someone who knows a thing or two about VKontakte I can give a bit of additional info, particularly since SPLC isn’t going into specifics when it says:

In posts on her page on vk.com, a Russian social networking site favored by white supremacists and neo-Nazis for its lack of censorship

It’s true that VK used to be a kind of deregulated Russian Facebook, and for that it was favored by both neo-Nazis and anti-Putin activists, as well as many other Russian speakers, even from countries that are hostile to Russia. In fact, VK was instrumental in the mass protests of 2011-2013 against Putin’s regime. All that has changed a couple years ago when one of Putin’s cronies acquired the site and forced its founder to flee the country.
Since then the site is very well regulated to insure that there aren’t any opposing views to those of the Kremlin. The reason it’s a safe heaven for neo-Nazis is because neo-Nazism is now sanctioned by the Kremlin. This is why Putin is funding and/or extremely friendly with such individuals and organizations as Hungary’s Viktor Orban, the Greek Golden Dawn, France’s Marie Le Pen and of course, Trump.
We’re currently looking at the formation of a new Axis.

    Back to topic:
I like Rebecca Barnette’s photo in the SPLC article. She wears a t-shirt with a swastika superimposed on the Confederate flag with the initials N.S.M. (National Socialist Movement) and a swastika + Mjolnir necklace. You really can’t get any more Nazi than that without growing a tiny mustache and combing your hair to one side.
I like it because it effectively summarizes the ideas behind the pro-police, anti-BLM and pro-Confederacy movements in one disgusting person.

    Excellent idea!
    May I recommend Mars?

I’m glad they’ve been named as a hate group by the SPLC, and that the SPLC went on to explain why BLM is the exact opposite.

As for where they could go… I don’t want Mars sullied by their crap (I want to go there, too).

    Maybe send them to Venus?
