Herman Cain has feelings, and he’s discovered those feelings can be hurt by what he calls false accusations and the court of public opinion being fed by the liberal media. On Saturday the former front-runner suspended his campaign, a nifty dodge allowing the zillionaire and his agents to beg struggling middle-class people to pay off Cain’s remaining campaign debt. The hurt ran so deep he decreed it was a loss, for the American People mind you, that we would not have Cain’s ingenious solutions working for our nation. He also promised he would endorse someone soon. Today, we hear rumors it will be Newt Gingrich:

(WaPo) — The aide said an “endorsement announcement is coming soon,” but also declined to say precisely when — or to discuss whether it really is Gingrich that Cain, the former CEO of Godfather’s Pizza, might back. A Gingrich spokesman said no endorsement from Cain is expected Monday — despite a report by an Atlanta television station Sunday night saying that one was forthcoming.

You can see why someone with a sensitivity for false allegations and who cares about other people’s feelings would seriously consider Newt Gingrich. Newt shares that deep concern about false allegations and people’s feelings. Haha, kidding! For those of you too young to remember the Gingrich revolution, it was precisely then that the modern wave of conservative nastiness first bloomed. And leading the charge in Washington DC was none other than Mr. Newt Gingrich! Consider his many ruminations:

“She isn’t young enough or pretty enough to be the President’s wife.” – Newt Gingrich, opining ont his first wife after divorcing her.
“I think one of the great problems we have in the Republican party is that we don’t encourage you to be nasty. We encourage you to be neat, obedient, and loyal and faithful and all those Boy Scout words.” – Newt Gingrich, fanning the flames of hatred.
I think that the killing of two children in South Carolina vividly reminds every American how sick society is getting … the only way you get change is to vote Republican” – Newt Gingrich implying Democrats were somehow responsible for Susan Smith, a deranged mother, drowning her children in 1995.

1978 speaking to a group of College Republicans: “I think that one of the great problems we have in the Republican Party is that we don’t encourage you to be nasty.”
1989 speaking about the Democratic leadership in Congress: “These people are sick….They are so consumed by their own power, by a Mussolini-like ego, that their willingness to run over normal human beings and to destroy honest institutions is unending.”
2011 speaking about the current Democratic president: “Obama is the most serious radical threat to traditional America ever to occupy the White House.”

None of this is taken out of context, and there’s pages and pages of it. So you can see why Herman Cain, now profoundly aware of how words can destroy families and hurt people’s feelings, would throw his dwindling support behind Gingrich … unless he’s just another conservative huckster. What are the odds?
