Ken’s crew was out with the little bobcat backhoe and made holes, so I limped out with my gouty foot and adjusted them with a shovel, shoved the hammer framework into the hole, and made a form around it.
Mike P and I went through the wakizashi fittings-making class at Dragonfly Forge together and have been chatting about knife-making and techniques ever since. Mike’s also a serious cook. He’s from Brazil, though, and uses massive amounts of meat in everything, while I’m trying (and succeeding!) in cutting way back.

Mike P and I [reddrag] often share our successes, and warn each other of our failures. Somehow we got on the subject of using nickel sheet in damascus in place of high nickel steel.
I’ve been doing some web design, and it really sucks with a gouty foot. You’ve got to picture me hopping around cursing without pausing for air. It’s finally receding a bit, which means it’s merely miserable.
Where we left things at last update, the steel building company was sending out a welder to cut out the gussets and move them. This happened, and the assembly of the building resumed.
This is the state of the hot shed as of this morning. Ken and his crew have been kicking butt.
