I couldn’t resist. Apparently “Seax” is pronounced “Sex”.
I posted about a knife I made for one of my mentors, where I cracked the tip trying to straighten it. [stderr]
I did this for one of computer security’s early innovators, Dan G., who has been my hero since I first worked with him on porting MIT’s Project Athena code to ULTRIX in 1987. He now lives on a farm in rural someplace and I know he cooks.
Gary M. is an old friend of mine (also a computer security guy) and is a serious cook. He’s also a serious drinker. One night at 3am after we had been up working on bottles (him on a bottle of bourbon, me on tequila and cokes) he announced he was hungry, and proceeded to make some beef with black pepper bearnais sauce. It was perfect, and amazing because he was barely able to stand upright.

Yesterday I took a 2×4 and my angle grinder with the diamond cutoff wheel, and snapped a couple of “here’s why not” pictures.
The “straight razor challenge” took on a bit of a life of its own, and has finally concluded.
Things are beginning to get real at the shop; we moved the machinery in.
