I don’t really care for holidays, except as an excuse to dress up funny and be weird. In other words, every day can be a holiday.
My display at home may be brighter than my laptop’s because here it looks like I overdid the darkening contrast curves a but much. Well, damn.
Nazgul cloak by Wishmaster Capes [wm]
The cloak is surprisingly warm (and looks properly fearsome) and I wore it over my cotton mage’s robe with military surplus Soviet jackboots. In other words, I was clunk-stomp-stumbling around, even before I put the mask on. The hardest part by far was coating the unusually large balloon with eros bodyglide (every kinkster’s favorite latex polish) while it was inflated with helium – it kept trying to get away; I wound up holding the end in my teeth and sort of mush-rubbing it all over my face like a giant unhappy chipmunk of some sort.

You have the best stories. I love the cape, it’s pure wicked.

I have this statue out in front of my house and I decorate it every month with some new these. This would look AWESOME on my statue. I might have to come up with something like this. It looks terrific.

Crap. That should be “theme”, not “these”. SIGH.

What’s a Nazgul like you doing in a place like this?

Ha! That’s a good one!
(I dunno if you saw my reply to your out-of-band question. Short form: I don’t know; the landscape changes very quickly and any advice that’s not generic “don’t do that” would get out of date pretty quickly. My postings about backups and password vaults actually cover the stuff that I think needs to be covered. Feel free to ask specific questions and if they’re something I have useful thoughts about, I’ll be happy to try to answer.)

That’s a super duper cool thing! Sounds like a lot of work…

I’m celebrating the tradition of celebrating holidays at their commercial peak. I will be celebrating thanksgiving on halloween, and christmas the next day. Eventually it will all wrap around and I’ll be celebrating stuff more or less at random.

Marcus @#6:
I hadn’t (though I have now). There’s basically a couple of issues knocking around in my head right now:
1) best practices on passwords and password managers, like whether throwaway accounts sites force you to make are even worth a serious password, and importantly including how do you know a PASSWORD MANAGER is itself trustworthy. I think you wrote an posting that was pretty much this already, but I’m not sure.
2) how much two-factoring actually matters, depending on sites that offer it (I have recently activated this on Facebook, Twitter, and Steam), whether there’s any practical difference in security or usage for an end-user between the three (that I know of) typical kinds of two-factor system used these days: SMS, mobile app, or PRNG fob.
3) best practices on having personal electronics at the border (or when dealing with other law enforcement), given someone like me who is NOT a danger or a revolutionary but IS a screaming leftist and therefore likely to be treated like one. I know you touched on this subject, but as far as I can recall it was kind of general, rather than ‘do this and this and it will probably produce a minimum of fuss’ type of thing. Note that in my case I would be a foreign national trying to cross the American border, thereby automatically qualifying as a terror suspect in Trumpistan, where the idea of a Canadian popping down to Seattle to visit a couple of friends for the weekend is extremely frightening for some reason.

I think I should do a summary page; I’ve added that to my “todo” list.
