Continuing his desperate attempt to get attention, any attention, to his campaign that is barely even registering in the polls, angry Chihuahua Bobby Jindal, envious of the attention given to Carly Fiorina and Ben Carson when they were attacked by Donald Trump, has decided to go after him, no doubt hoping that Trump, after first saying “Bobby who?” might deign to retaliate and insult him too.
Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal (R) tore into Donald Trump in a speech at the National Press Club in Washington, calling the billionaire an egomaniac and a narcissist.
Jindal, who is polling near the bottom of the GOP field, just released a campaign ad in which he mocked Trump with clips of Charlie Sheen.
He said he likes the idea of candidates going after the “political class,” but that Trump is not the solution to any of the problems.
“It’s been a lot of fun, but here’s the problem: Donald Trump is not a serious candidate. He’s a narcissist. He’s an egomaniac. The only thing he believes in is himself. I want to say what everybody is thinking about Donald Trump, but is afraid to say,” said Jindal.
Egomaniac? Narcissist? Someone who only believe in himself? Not a serious candidate? That reminds me of someone else as well but I am trying to think who …
I suspected that Jindal’s tactic may not work. He is so far out of the running that Trump may feel that being attacked by him is an “experience somewhat akin to being gummed by a newt. It doesn’t actually hurt, but it leaves you with slimy stuff on your ankle” (as the inimitable Molly Ivins memorably said two decades ago when she was attacked by Rush Limbaugh) and thus not worth wasting valuable insults on.
And sure enough, Trump responded with a Tweet that said “I only respond to people that register more than 1% in the polls. I never thought he had a chance and I’ve been proven right.” Jindal tried again, saying of Trump that “he looks like he’s got a squirrel on his head” to which Trump sneeringly replied “Oh wow, lightweight Governor @BobbyJindal, who is registered at less than 1 percent in the polls, just mocked my hair. So original!”
I think Jindal’s desperate plea for attention has run its course even though he is likely to use his time during the kiddie table debate on September 16 to launch further attacks on Trump.
“Being gummed by a newt” is one of the best put-downs of an attack that I have seen.

Poor Bobby Jindal. He should just stick to mocking volcano monitoring.

And yet he has now responded to Jindal twice. Why are memories of my old elementary school playground suddenly popping into my head?

moarscienceplz,
The playground behavior analogy is perfect for the behavior of the Republican field.

Yes indeed. And now that Trump has used the “Are you going to listen to that loser?” response, the public has been inoculated against those charges. Trump will probably gain a point or two in the polls.

That describes Bobby Jindal. The only difference between him and Trump is that Trump is a lot better at it.
And, Trump has driven a dozen or so companies into the ground while getting rich while Jindal has only managed to drive Louisiana into the ground while only making a few bucks.

“I only respond to people that register more than 1% in the polls” he said, as he responded to someone with less than 1% in the polls.
