A friend recently sent me this very short video clip. It briefly tells the love story of a middle-aged couple in rural Sri Lanka who have been married for 34 years and live and work on their own small tea plantation.
Their marriage was one that was arranged by their parents, a practice that used to be widely practiced in my parents’ generation. It still common in Sri Lanka but rapidly decreasing in popularity, especially in urban areas. But as this couple demonstrates, an arranged marriage need not be a loveless one and theirs is a sweet love story.

This brings to mind the song from Fiddler on the Roof.
