David Attenborough is one of the most famous names in producing nature documentaries, going to all manner of remote and exotic locations to capture life in the wild and make sense of what may seem to outsiders to be inexplicable animal behaviors. He turns his formidable nature-observing skills to explain to us the strange behavior he observed in one group of animals in Russia.

Tragically, the curlers were eaten by hoax dormitory wolves just a few hours later. Thus is the Circle of Life perpetuated in the wilds of the Sochi Olympic Village Sanctuary.

I’m surprised Putin doesn’t have his horde of Cossacks (AKA the Russian Ku Klux Klan) attack the curlers. Isn’t he afraid that they might corrupt the children of Russia and turn them away from the goal of becoming shirtless horse riders (which is absolutely, totally NOT AT ALL GAY!)?

One of the most frightening bar visits of my life (so far) was in downtown Calgary about twenty years ago. The Canadian Senior Women’s Curling tournament was going on. I had never seen that many fierce perimenopausal women knocking back that much whiskey. But they did seem to be having a grim, competitive sort of fun.
