Thank you for sharing this. I was surprised at how emotional the experience, and even just talking about it, was for him. It has increased my respect for Dustin Hoffman and made me interested in seeing seeing the movie again after all these years.
Just as a matter of information, Dustin Hoffman and I graduated from the same high school, albeit separated by several years.
When this movie came out folks in Houston started sometimes calling mayor Kathy Whitmire “Tootsie” because she somewhat resembled Hoffman’s character. Rumor was that the costume department based Tootsie on Whitmire, but a lot of women looked like that back then.
Aha!! So Family Guy is making a Tootsie reference here. Great! One down, millions of other references still to go.
