He really means it

Donald Trump belched out a “christmas” message. It’s not the usual platitudes and well wishes, it’s instead a subconscious whine from the id of a demented tyrant. I’m not going to type this all out, so struggle with reading this mess…or don’t.

He keeps talking about seizing the Panama canal, annexing Canada, and taking over Greenland because “we need it”. I’m beginning to believe he’s really going to try to do it, somehow. Apparently, he’s going to try wheedling Canada into voluntarily ceding their sovereignty for lower taxes and the benefit of our “protection” (he’s openly asking for protection money, very Mafia). I don’t think Canadians are interested in being invaded by health care insurance companies, or being saddled with the kind of uncertainty about the future I have, and the only threat to Canada I know of right now is the USA. He has also deluded himself into thinking the inhabitants of Greenland want to be taken over by Donald Trump.

Panama is a different story. Now he’s falsely claiming that Chinese troops are in control of the canal — they aren’t, they’re investing lots of money in development in Panama — which is priming the MAGA clowns to justify military action.

I’m going to guess what’s going on in his mind. He knows his record as president was bad, and is going to get worse, although he thinks he can hide it with all this bluster. He’s trying to come up with something that will generate a positive legacy for him, and thinks that territorial expansion is just the thing to make him look like a strong leader. It’s what Putin did, after all. I think he’s also trying to pick out ‘easy’ targets (Canada has a history of wrecking American invasions, though, and I think he might find that a lot of American citizens would stand with our friend and ally to the north), because maybe he thinks Ronald Reagan looked tough invading Grenada.

The second half is just the typical whining about how everyone is picking on him.

25 days until this demented, delusional maniac is at the wheel of this country.

Welcome to MAGA Amerika where the Christmas message from Dear Leader includes “go to HELL.”

Yes, indeed, Christian nationalist traditional family values!

Merry Effing Christmas and Yippie Kayah, Mofo’s!

I truly do not understand how anyone can look at the verbal diahrea he spews out on a daily basis and conclude that this is some sort of cunning, rational individual who’s got the ability to dress themselves on their own, much less lead a country.

I’m not sure if the situation has changed much, but when last I heard Trudeau and his party where in trouble of losing next election and bunch of MAGA-inspired right-wingers were poised to take power.

“last I heard Trudeau and his party where in trouble of losing next election and bunch of MAGA-inspired right-wingers were poised to take power.”

I kept TELLING the Canadians to “build the wall” to keep the MAGA wildlings out, but did they listen? Noooo.

“They know that their only chance of survival is getting pardons from a man who has absolutely no idea what he is doing.”
    I know. But not really…
It’s like a subconscious self-hatred that results in a lashing out with confessions of his crimes.

@6 Autobot Silverwynde — As Trump himself said years ago, and now with the official backing of SCOTUS, he can break whatever laws he wants without repercussion. I mean, the man is a convicted felon who’s been handed the keys to the WH.

Incompetence and looking for external threats? It’s like deep down despite the narcissism Trump knows what he touches turns to shit so he’s getting as many distractions together as possible. It’s built into the culture. Him and Musk and the like. And Putin, but that’s a more old and institutional culture of failure and taking. Like the one the US is. Trump is bringing in fresh fascist energy.

Three cheers for historical ineptitude and incompetence! I’m counting on the administration self-aborting. Or being stillborn. There’s always cardiac related failures; and snipers, you know, all kinds of no-nonsense types. He’s already off to a shaky start even with his minions in tow. Gotta keep positive!

Congress can do a Jan. 6 in reverse, LEGALLY. See https://thehill.com/opinion/congress-blog/5055171-constitution-insurrection-trump-disqualification/. In fact, their oath of office to support the US Constitution, would REQUIRE them to do so. Poetic justice, in spades! But I bet they won’t, they won’t even talk about it. Because 1) the Democrates are cowards, and 2) NOBODY talked about this during the campaign. Dems should have given the voters fair warning that Trump could never be president before letting him run. A big official statement by the Dems, in 2022 say, that they would never let a 14th Amendment insurrectionist become President, would have been a glorious defence of the constitution, and demonstration of a spine, BUT NO!
In fact they should have done it every year, starting in 2021, just after he escaped impeachment.

As for territory expansion, you are giving him too much credit. Trump’s mind is famished when it comes to original thought. More like he is trying to emulate Putin. Can’t rule out he wants Canada and Greenland with eyes of building hotels with his name on them, after all, he didn’t get to build one in Moscow. One other motivation may be a diversion, typical conman tactic, while he robs the henhouse.

@#3 – Rob Grigjanis….. Trump and his henchmen are purposely bamboozling their supporters, and they continually embrace any excrement coming out of his mouth. Biden may have made their lives worse by committing them to a lifetime in prison.

While we are sending troops and equipment to Canda, Panama and possibly Mexico, Russia and China will have minimal resistance over the rest of the world (Asia, Europe, South America, Africa)

It’s going to be a long, long couple of years (at least), and if DJT hands in his dinner pail it will just get worse. Right now the only hope is a massive repudiation of this nonsense in 2026. Or, I suppose, a massive meteor but that I cannot endorse.

PZ is correct. I am concerned that this demented, violent, greedy old fool is being completely manipulated by the billionaire funders if his insanity. However, that doesn’t mean that this maniacal puppet won’t cause massive damage, injury and death around the world in the near future.
Welcome to the New Dark Ages. Prove me wrong and I’ll stop saying that.

  14. John Watts says

    I’m sure he means it.

George H. W. Bush invaded Panama in 1989, ostensibly because of Manuel Noriega’s drug running. Nobody stopped Bush then. If Trump ordered his SecDef to invade, we’d see the Army and Marines down there in a matter of weeks.

Greenland is trickier because Denmark is a founding member of NATO. Can’t just send in the Marines to occupy an ally’s territory. Or can he? He could make Denmark an offer they can’t refuse.

Canada just won’t happen. They remained a relatively civilized country as part of the British Empire, while we descended into gun toting madness. If we got rid of the 2nd Amendment and for profit health insurance, they might consider it.

My dad was stationed in the Panama Canal Zone in the early 1970s The effects of having gold and silver system was still evident with the institutionalized racism. The high schools were kind of segregated. I attended Balboa High School, which seemed to be non-segregated because military brats came in all sorts of ethnicity and color. Though one classmate noted that she lived in Paraiso, but did not attend Paraiso High School. Mostly because that school was reserved for “silver” families, which happened to be descendants of workers from the West Indies: https://thesilverpeopleheritage.wordpress.com/2008/05/01/the-silver-and-gold-roll-on-the-panama-canal-zone/

Living there did introduce me to the colonialism of the USA mixed with military culture. Everything belonged to the Panama Canal Company, which just happened to be part of the US Army Corps of Engineers. Until 1979 the Canal Zone governors were officers of the US Army. It was run like a military base, even for the civilians. They were assigned quarters which were maintained by the PC Company, and sent their kids to DoD schools (which was revealed well after I left).

The racism included not hiring Panamanians to jobs like boat pilots, having a minimum height for the police, segregated housing, etc. There is no way the Government of Panama will go back to those days.

It wouldn’t be the first time. Back during the war of 1812, those fighting the American troops with the Canadians included some Americans. Those people became a group known as the “United Empire”, and those who are descendants can have “UE” attached at the end of their names.
Of course, Trump is also threatening to take over Democratic states, and to take such minor things as education, healthcare, retirement, and other parts of daily life from all Americans. He’s also hoping to take employment from many of them, nationwide. Trump would have Americans fighting on both sides of the North American border.

  18. Jean says

I think that part of Trump’s plan for peace in Ukraine is to have Putin take over the whole country and have Putin agree that the US take over Canada and Greenland. Of course, the US has no say on Ukraine’s sovereignty and Putin has no say what happens to Canada and Greenland but Trump doesn’t give a shit and will assume he can do whatever he wants through military threats.

And he’ll “give” South Korea and Taiwan to North Korea and China to try to make all his friends happy. And probably do something to hurt Iran and the Palestinians and help Israel.

  19. EigenSprocketUK says

Trump’s proposed territorial expansions will be very popular with his new electorate: remember they are just people of the land, Simple Fox voters, the common clay of making America great again.
    You know …

Somehow, I suspect he hasn’t thought through the effect of adding a state with more people than Texas and California combined—and I don’t see Canadians trending to Republican electoral college votes…

[I]f Canada was[sic] to become our 51st State, their Taxes would be cut by 60%, their businesses would immediately double in size, and they would be militarily protected like no other Country anywhere in the World.

You mean, we’d lose our state-provided health insurance, a Bell-Rogers merger would be approved so Canada would now be owned by just one giant monopolist instead of split between two giant duopolists, and all of this whilst under foreign military occupation?

    Er, no thanks. We’ll pass.

Likewise to the people of Greenland, which is needed by the United States for National Security purposes and,[sic] who want the U.S. to be there, and we will!

I think you’ll find that Greenland doesn’t respond well to threats.

[I]n 26 days, we will,[sic] MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN.

I don’t think America responds well to threats, either. Just ask Japan.
