The cicadas in my head are trying to kill me now

Exam is done and posted. Ready to go into the lab and work with some spiders! Only catch is that now my brain has decided to fall asleep and torture me with a headache, and tinnitus cranked up to 11. A nap would be good, except…appointments.

Now, how do joints work again? Must move upwards, forwards, somewhere.

I usually don’t pay attention to my tinnitus–until someone mentions or refers to noise, or especially tinnitus. Then that’s all I hear.

NB: Admin will not reward you for literally dying on your job.
They are taking advantage of the loyaity staff has with the students, just like the psychopaths in the British government are taking advantage of the loyalty the NHS staff has for their patients.
Nothing will change until the bosses notice the system has stopped working.

So many of us, like you, are forced into sleep deprivation as a lifestyle. And, with tinnitus, you can’t just plug your ears. If you do, the cicadas just start laughing in addition to their loud trilling! I hope you are able to get some sleep. As I posted earlier, we need someone to invent a safe and effective OTC ‘fuggitall’ pill to help us sleep.

Dr. Myers, I’ve suffered from moderate to severe tinnitus for 33 years. The only thing that helps me is stress reduction, either by minimizing external stressors like work (if possible) and medication. The only drugs that have ever worked for me are Valium and Ativan, both of which seem to reduce the ringing. Unfortunately, they’re both addictive. Check with your doctor and get his/her advice.

If you haven’t already, ask your doctor about HBOT (Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy) for tinnitus. I have a friend who runs an HBOT clinic and she mentioned having a tinnitus patient once, and pointed me to a study showing some promising results. Might be worth looking into.
