Earlier, I mentioned that crappy creationist article by Thorvaldsen. Then I learn that Jason Rosenhouse did a phenomenally thorough job dismantling that paper. Really, go read it. It’s fun.
Before that, I was talking about how robust moderation is necessary lest your site be overrun with bad faith commenters. Look at the comments on Jason’s article. Hoo boy, there is a parade of idiots there, which the moderators deal with on a case-by-case basis. Clowns like atheistoclast, Byers, and Otangelo Grasso are regulars over there, and all they do is spew arrogant, stupid noise (which I now dub with the portmanteau “Indignorance”) and add nothing to the discussion.
I guess I should just sit back and let the Panda’s Thumb demonstrate everything.
DonDueed says
“Indignorance”. Perfect, I’m stealing it.

Speaking as one of the Pandas Thumb moderators, let me state clearly that Otangelo Grasso and Atheistoclast are banned at PT. Byers is allowed to make one comment per post, maximum and people are discouraged from replying to him, especially as he pays no attention to refutations and just wants to repeat himself. PZ M[e]yers has made many good posts there in the somewhat distant past; his input would be welcome, though I suspect that he is busy.

I especially liked “I cannot write down whatever I want on this blog hence the blog is like Nazi-Germany”.
PZ Myers says
Yeah, I’m not criticizing PT’s moderation policy — it’s more generous than my own, but doesn’t let the lunatics run roughshod over the place.

@3 First the Nazi’s came for the adverbs, but I was not an adverb….
Joe Felsenstein says
PZ, I appreciate your noting good new posts at PT. I suspect that with increasingly right-wing judges on courts we will see new efforts to override Dover. They may succeed in doing that. Having places where mathematical arguments against evolution can be evaluated and exposed may be more important than ever, both in court and in schools. Yes, we let Otangelo Grasso run wild briefly — he was new there, I think, but we learned quickly.

The world is full of irreducible stupidity.

I gotta be honest here. I coulda used a little more sybyzgy.
… I mean, really: explore the space.

The loss of Ed Brayton is felt as we are overrun by crap and do not have enough time to reply to it.
