If this is a “loving tribute to Schoolhouse Rock”, then I’m not going to go back and watch those cartoons, either. I’ve grown up to see through the illusions.
Trump thinks he’s above the law. McConnell thinks he’s above the law. Cops think they’re above the law. Rich people think they’re above the law. So far I haven’t seen any evidence to the contrary. It’s pretty clear that there are some comfortable delusions we all hide behind.
Marcus Ranum says
There is no value to power unless it is to be above the law.
Howard Brazee says
There’s a long history of people being above the law. It is up to us to change that.

“Now, there’s this about cynicism, Sergeant. It’s the universe’s most supine moral position. Real comfortable. If nothing can be done, then you’re not some kind of shit for not doing it, and you can lie there and stink to yourself in perfect peace.” — Lois McMaster Bujold, “The Borders of Infinity”
Seriously. Just because some assholes think they’re above the law doesn’t mean they are. It’s up to all of us whether they are or not. This is still a democracy, if we don’t let them take it away from us.
