Dance!

Human bodies can do impressive things.

That’s a commercial to sell perfume. I’ve already forgotten what brand, though, and if I did it would be only to avoid it — it seems to have spectacular neurological side effects.

I like this dance better.

However, that ballerina does not have enough legs. Maybe we need to start tinkering with genomes to figure out how to create 6 or 8 legged dancers?

Just what you need to spice up your next lecture. I bet the finger lasers would come in handy, too.

I was with her until she randomly assaulted some guy and whipped out the finger lasers. So violent! Is this perfume supposed to be safe?!

“One star. One sniff of this perfume and I was overcome with the urge to strangle clowns.”

Lois McMaster Bujold’s books have a geneengineered branch of humans called “Quaddies” – they’re zero-g engineers, so they have 4 arms and no legs. As usual, Bujold explores some of the social implications as well as offering rollicking good sci-fi adventure.

I wasn’t surprised to see that the first one was directed by Spike Jonze: I was getting quite a Christopher Walken vibe from it. But I’m not sure Walken could run up stairs in high heels like that.

Well, that’s only fair, since it often seems like Americans are scared of most of the world.

I was kind impressed with the post production CGI in the kenzo add like no camera or crew in any of the mirror shots among others things there were plenty others I’m sure.
the other was just a filmed dancer on stage who was remarkable to say the least gives an old man thoughts.

Um. There is the phrase “KENZI World” emblazoned above the video. I am presuming that you were going for dramatic effect and not suffering sleep deprivation. You may start losing students to these sorts of daydream flights of fancy in class if it were the latter. Watch for the twitches – that seemed to be the start,

The video is awesome, thanks for posting it. Drilling into Youtube I see that this is apparently some kind of calling card of the Illuminati. (Where do these conspiracy people come from? It must be a plot, orchestrated to distract us from the real problem.) And also a nice mashup of this and “weapon of choice”.

Ms Sidorova’s dance is even better (and she does have the correct number of appendages). Apparently she choreographed that as a youngster.

@PZ, wouldn’t we need to also tinker with the brain, in order to add processing ability to manage the additional limbs?
Or are you thinking of using ganglia to hand off the additional workload? ;)

I was taken with The Spider dance so I sent the link to my wife who is a professional choreographer and dance professor. She watched it and said drily, “The opening was very nice, but the rest is standard ballet. Good, not great.”

Oh, well, what do I know?

I don’t think the similarities are accidental, though I much prefer the original – still one of my favorite music videos.
