I’ve got all this grading to do. Do you think the students will object if their papers are returned covered in blood, vomit, and tears?
That’s not a comment on the quality of their work, but how I’m feeling when faced with the interminable ever-growing stacks.

If they weren’t handed in that way, you’re obviously being way too soft on them.

I thought that’s what grad students were for?
Nerd of Redhead, Dances OM Trolls says
Since UMM is an undergraduate university, graduate students are nowhere to be seen except when they visit campus from other places like UMTC.

Blood and tears, no problem. But vomit? I would take that personally.

“papers are returned covered in blood, vomit, and tears”
Isn’t that in the Student Manual?
sugarfrosted says
Never returned anything with that on it. Alcohol, yes.

If only you weren’t an atheist, PZ. Then you could just pass ’em all and let God sort them out.

This is why dog invented scantrons.

Must I point out the obvious solution? Get the nets! I’m sure as a biology professor PZ can figure out how to keep grad students alive in captivity for … scientific purposes.

Ah, I remember those days when I was A student! I shed my own fair share of bodily fluids at the end of each semester, ultimately all for naught since I have done nothing practical with my lousy Journalism degree.
Hope these kids end up better than I did.

I feel your pain. I’m sitting here next to a pile of papers that I want nothing to do with.
Dr Marcus Hill Ph.D. (arguing from his own authority) says
Amazingly, it looks like I might just finish my pile of assignments to mark by the end of the day today. Just in time for the first exam on Monday morning. Of course, I also have a bunch of moderation marking to do, and I need to look at stuff from institutions where I’m an external examiner, and… never mind, it seems I won’t be done marking for a while.

Due to increased administrative duties and a technical issue, I’m teaching less this semester than since I started teaching. However, I’m working more nights and weekends than I ever have before, and I’m still always behind. Can’t wait to get a breather… someday.
