I’m hoping they’ll fix the comment smartness bug so I stop sounding like an addled doofus.

Does anyone else get the mess I’m seeing in Sili’s comment? There’s text underneath but bits seem missing.
I’ve never seen anything like it.

And now we will conduct a test of the emergency hyperlink system. Had this been a real emergency, that hyperlink would not be describing a 15 tonne ball of fat which tried to eat London.
(Still borked. With some odd glitching in the text box.)
Previewed hyperlinks are Big and Blue and float to the left instead of staying inline with the body of the text, but they look OK in the final comment.
It seems to be coming from style.css, which contains
a {
color: #1772AF;
text-decoration: none;
}
which is the Blue,
.comment-link a, .comment-link a:visited {
font: 18px arial;
}
Someone might want to think again about those float: and margin-left: settings, at a minimum.
Setting fonts to absolute pixel sizes is also rarely a good idea; better to do it relative to other text using em units.
I will also post this hint (which I broadly agree with) where poopyhead said to…
I’m pretty sure it’s actually fixed now. The problem is some crazy nested CSS (as BLF pointed out), and I have resolved it by editing the main CSS for the Graphene theme in order to enforce the overrides I put in for the comment classes in the preview.
It will still look different, especially anyplace that overrides the text with a serif font (like mine and Pharyngula, for instance). But it’s at least a better facsimile of a real comment now, and you can test your links appropriately.
What? Why aren’t you all doing my testing for me? It’s not like big important news just broke of yet another asshole prominently placed in the skeptics movement or anything!
Allowing googleapis dot com worked for me yesterday through trial and error searching for WTF. I wasn’t getting any preview then after making the change in NoScript, there was preview.
Not perfectly though. Got a rare “preview error” message earlier tonight over in the Lounge. So, I’ll try now with just this plain text. Yup. Preview popped right up with unusual swiftness.
Go, Jason, go. Though I do not understand the arcane twists of your craft, I am trusting you. Thanks for your efforts. Never mind (dismiss with compassion) the protestations of the poopyhead. You know how overworked he is . . .
[hee hee. Just added “poopyhead” to Firefox’s spell check dictionary. It’ll save me some clicks as time goes by. Suggest everyone do so as well.]

Oh yes. What he did was overload his text with stacked diacritics. It’s madnessSpartaDenmark.
I don’t like squiggly red lines, so I simply switch the spellchecker off immediately every time I install a program that has one. I was shocked to find out how many people don’t do that.
