Sean Carroll at the Bell Museum

This should be good, but I may have to miss it: Sean Carroll will be speaking at the University of Minnesota on 15 May — he’ll also be speaking at the biology commencement the day after. He’ll be talking about his new book, Remarkable Creatures, which is very good.

I’ll be flying back from California the day before, and have my own university’s commencement ceremony to attend the day after, so he’s right there in a tantalizing hole in my own schedule…I could do it with a little bit of shuttling back and forth. I’ll have to think about how to manage it…

    Mmm, if you fly in from California to Minneapolis and just stay over, you could do it. Or do you have to fly home and then drive a round trip to Minneapolis and back? I’d be tempted to watch to podcast.

    Monado in Toronto –

    Nah. I’m sure that he takes a direct flight from California to Alexandria, MN, and then the high-speed rail from there to Morris.

    Damn that’s confusing. Maybe we should call tehm “biology sean caroll” and “physics sean caroll”.. or something…

    Where in California will you be, PZ? Northern? Southern? And I assume there’ll be a lecture involved? Inquiring minds would like to know!

    We had a bunch of big name speakers last month, but I thought that Carroll gave the best and most polished talk of the bunch.

    He’ll be in speaking about Remarkable Creatures next week (May 5?) at U of Oregon in Eugene. I, unfortunately, will be in New Mexico.

    @Oded

    Yeah me too. Just remember, the ‘B’ is for Biology, and the ‘M’ is for M-Theory.

    Agree. Tis confusing. Maybe Sean Carroll, CV (for Cosmic Variance, or such) A single letter would do.

    I think the two of them should get together and write a book about science and religion.

    Speaking of travel, how’s the effort going to set up a tip jar for a new squidmobile? If it’s against Scienceblogs rules, PZ could put it on the old Pharyngula site.
