Didja know A Song of Ice and Fire by George “Rail Road” Martinson inspired a bunch of ripoff titles, prominently the romantasy A Court of Thorns and Roses by Bret Michaels? I’m sure that romance author made a bank full of money specifically on the back of cracking George‘s secret code. Join me, if you will, in becoming hojillionaires of literary science. What should we write?

quick, before john machine generates a bunch
I kinda liked the hooptie one…
I haven’t read A Court of Thorns and Roses because it gives the impression of being too YA. I’e seen it everywhere.
With my tongue firmly in cheek…
A Tree of Apples and Pears (you could do a lot with trees, really. A tree of roses and wine springs to mind.)
A Mug of Chocolate and Milk
A Cake of Chalk and Cheese
A Pail of Water and Salt
A Chicken of Feathers and Fear
An Arrangement in Grey and Black
A Window of Sun and Time
A Can of Bacon and Beans
A Seating of Nobles and Plebeians
A Game of Homonyms and Metonymy
Happy Holidays!
Long ago in some theatre in NY, i saw a Godard film, whose current title I forget, but at the time it was called “A Gallery of Losers,” and tht’s always stuck with me as a good title.
I’ve long liked titles that are better than what they are for. “The Unbearable Lightness of Being” I found nearly impossible to read. Alan Ginsburg wrote a book of otherwise unexceptional verse calle “Reality Sandwiches.” I’ve forgotten a bunch of others, but I’m sure there are plenty.
