Well, that puts it out there – concern with human rights is a “deviation” that gets in the way of religious rules and demands and childish petty meddling with everybody’s happiness. The PM of Malaysia is against it.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak said Islam and its followers are now being tested by new threats under the guise of humanism, secularism, liberalism and human rights.
He said this mindset appeared to be becoming a new form of religion which was fast expanding locally and abroad.
“They call it human rightism, where the core beliefs are based on humanism and secularism as well as liberalism.
“It’s deviationist in that it glorifies the desires of man alone and rejects any value system that encompasses religious norms and etiquettes. They do this on the premise of championing human rights,” he said.
Yes, that’s right, you horrible bully. The desires of human beings are real while “religious norms” are derived from a god who isn’t there and would be a vicious tyrant if it were there. Human rights are better than religious norms and etiquettes. Much better.
“So today, once again, we stress that Islam that is embraced, practised and upheld as the national religion in Malaysia is the Islam which is based on the Sunni sect as propagated by the Prophet Muhammad and his friends.
“We will not tolerate any demands or right to apostasy by Muslims, or deny Muslims their right to be governed by Shariah Courts and neither will we allow Muslims to engage in LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender) activities,” he said.
He said as a Islamic country which upheld the Maqasid Shariah (the implementation of Shariah laws based on the Quran and Sunni doctrine), Malaysia emphasised the welfare of every individual regardless of race, language or religion.
No, dude. No it doesn’t. That’s not what it does. It does the other thing. It does the opposite of what you said. The opposite. Not tolerating any “demands” for “apostasy” – meaning, for the right and freedom to refuse to be a Muslim and to refuse to submit to a god – is not emphasizing the welfare of every individual regardless of race, language or religion. It is the opposite of that.
The welfare of each individual is gauged exclusively with regard to ONE religion. That is not the same thing as “regardless of religion.” Imposing only one, and only one particular variety of that one, religion is antithetical to “regardless of religion.” They are regarding everyone’s religion very carefully, and with prejudice.

He’s right, you know. There is *no place* within ANY of the Abrahamic religions for such a concept as human rights. It’s an idea that is entirely foreign to the Old Testament, the New Testament, and the Qur’an. Not a single verse acknowledges basic, fundamental human rights. Heck, these texts don’t even acknowledge that slavery is bad, much less wrong!
People are required to obey the religious authorities, because the clergy are stand-ins for “god/s”. “Islam”, in fact, means “submission” – what part of this whole “don’t y’all go gettin’ all uppity and thinkin’ you’re worth somethin’ now” position are people not getting here??
Religions do not want people to be happy. Religions do not care if people are well. Religions seek power and control for those in power (including those in the religions who serve themselves along with those in power).

The PM’s party lost the general vote in the last election (2013) but still forms a majority government in parliament. They might not win the next election, so the islamic bandwagon is their last resort. There are a lot of hardline, far right. islamist and Malay supremacist organisations (so-called NGO’s but with strong state support) that are actively agitating for the full implementaion of Sharia or hudud laws. Things are getting worse in Malaysia and I wont be surprised at all if it all culminates in serious bloodshed a few years down the road.

In other news they also shun people who are left-handed too. It doesn’t change handedness and it doesn’t change sexual orientation and “allowed” or not Malaysian LGBTQI folks wilbe doing these “activities”and feeling and loving as they do.

The last 2 times (be honest, the only times) I flew London to Sydney it was with Malaysia Airlines, stopping over in Kuala Lumpur. No more. It was a pleasant enough flight, but I’m not putting myself in reach of that evil regime.
The religious are firm believers in the tyranny of the majority…but only when they are the majority. When they’re the minority (e.g. christians in Iraq and Egypt), they scream blue murder for human rights.
