Not our affinity Charly, but our friends’ very good old boy, who is definitely related to a certain oversized squirrel:
We went for a walk through the woods to the “hunting palace” of a Swedish king who once ruled these regions. Part of it is a restaurant today, part of it is a ruin.

I never knew I am named after a dog.

Perhaps the dog is named in your honour…?
What a fantastic location for a walk. Lots of abandoned hunting ‘lodges’ (hahaha they’re giant ‘rustic’ mansions!) around these parts, too -- ’tis the season to visit them and wonder about ghosts and hauntings…

And Charly is a beautiful, beautiful dog.
Ice Swimmer says
I guess the king was also named Karl (Karl X Gustav, Karl XI and Karl XII were all dukes of Pfalz-Zweibrücken/Palatinate-Zweibrücken in addition to being kings of Sweden).
Charly the dog does honour to the name (as does another Charly who likes to make things out of steel).
Lovely bits of scenery there.

Charly is a very handsome boy and I’m sure he had a good time. It’s a very beautiful place and likely full of all sorts of things that would interest a dog and his humans.
I like the way you’ve sequenced your photos. I feel as if I’m walking along, too.

Oh damn, I mixed up my useless nobles. It was the exiled King of Poland who had it built.
Charly the dog is indeed a wonderful, though awfully mistreated dog. Every time I see him he will put his head against my leg and demand to be petted and told what a good dog he is for 10 minutes, because apparently he’s being locked up in the basement or something.
He also assured me that he’s never geeting fed so if I happened to have a treat on me, that would be great.

Charly is a beautiful dog. That is a wonderful place to roam about, I like the pictures of the mushrooms and the fish in the pond.

Charly’s so modest, to live locked up like that, and only ask you for a trear! Or two! Or five!! Poor dog…
Who can keep the useless nobles straight? 1905 was quite a toasty year for them. At any rate, if I say German, I have a 90% chance of getting it right -- though there’s plenty of leftover Poles and Swedes, too. The colours are beautiful, last bits of warmth before…
