Incredible work, incredibly imaginative.
Children’s stories, or no-reason greeting cards. Because you could just buy little prints for yourself, but these need sharing. :)
Also, those would make great cards for Dixit (the boardgame). Fabulous work!

The stories are there — I just dip into them to capture a moment.

You should be. I’m no sprog, but I’d buy them! Sprogs would absolutely adore stories with such great illustrations.

There are illustrations out there specifically for children. I have never liked them.
They have always felt like’ talking down’ to children.
Arguably the greatest childrens’ artist Maurice Sendak never talked down to children. ‘Where The Wild Things Are’ was beautifully seditious but oh so innocent to adults.
The story of Max and his emotions becomes even more interesting when you find out that Sendak’s partner of 50 years was a psychoanalyst.
I wonder how many of those same adults would have been shocked to find out those pretty pictures were drawn by a gay atheist. :)
That’s the thing about your work, Gobi -- it has immediate appeal, regardless of age. I don’t find any of your pieces to be child specific, they are just delightful, sparking your imagination right away. There’s no condescension, just a desire for the story.
Out of the ones posted here, it’s the blackbirds’ goodbye to the dragonflies that draws me the most. There’s a story there, for me, that is perhaps a somewhat sad one, but a truly good story. I’d say there’s a big market for stories that are not condescending in tone or story line, beautifully illustrated. There’s a lot to be said for books that draw people, including sprogs, into art itself. It’s a great thing when art can inspire others to pick up a pencil, crayon, or whatever.
And I have always loved Sendak to pieces.
Oh, yes, saying they’re for children’s stories wasn’t meant as an insult in any way -- in fact, while a lot of people believe all it takes is a lot of colour and large shapes to draw children’s interest, this is not so. Not for the books they will read over and over again, at least. Your drawings are very captivating with the addition of whimsy, but as Caine says, not in a way that talks down to children: you don’t complete the story, you make me think more about the story.
If it comes down to stories. you don’t even need a written story, but a series of such colourful pictures would be enough for kids to make up their own stories.
And my favourite is also the one with the blackbirds, though I first thought it was crows, and the possible story was even darker. But still sad.
My second favourite is the rhinotrain but that’s because I love trains. :)

Oh no! I never take the children’s story comment as an insult! It is always taken as a compliment.
I have just added another post to my site and my wife’s thinks I have come across as gruff :(
This is why I should draw and not talk so much…
And the black birds are crows -- I love Australian crows. They are intelligent and cheeky and have bright blue eyes :) -- disregard all the bad stuff you might hear about them.
The crow picture, in style, reminds me of a children’s animation from… uhhh, I think the 70s, about a hedgehog lost in the mist. Denizens of the former Lounge will probably remember me talking about this before, but it has that same kind of mystical atmosphere. But as mentioned, much sadder -- the hedgehog story has a different feel to it.
