The other day I commented on a fire responder being fired because he simply could not keep his bigotry off his facebook. The lesson of social media seems to be one that bigots simply cannot grasp. They seem to think it’s magic, or has a force field, or something. A CBS46 producer has been fired over his racist rants on FB. You’d think they’d learn, but no. And in truth, I’m glad they haven’t. Best they be self sidelined.
FTVLive earlier today posted three Facebook rants by an Emmy-winning CBS46 photographer/producer Charles Beau Menefee in which he insulted the Black Lives Matter movement, calling them “unevolved, uncivilized turds” and wondering if the protesters could be boxed in and bombed.
In fact, he wished death upon members of the group at least twice.
Mark Pimental, general manager at CBS46, said Menefee has been fired, sending me a note informing the staff of his departure with his employee photo included.

Facebook combined with the “racist and proud of it” movement spurred on by Trump. It’s nice some racists are getting fired, but I fear for what happens as we normalize racism back to the days when it gets people hired instead of fired.

I know of black evangelical churches in Chicago that are very effective at fighting against racism. After all, it’s not like racism isn’t a problem in the atheist community. The role religion plays in racist America is complex.
Like you, I am glad that the bigots keep outing themselves. The problem is that the consequences only further antagonize them and justify in their own mind the race war that they so greatly desire. Don’t be surprised come November, if Trump loses the election, the bigots do their best to start the war. Here’s hoping that it doesn’t happen.
So much wrong in those rants it’s hard to know where to start… so I won’t.
Surely by now, there are lots of bigots who have learned the lesson and aren’t outing themselves. Which only emphasizes how stupid the ones who still do are.
