That looks like a really uplifting and positive film. One that I think my wife and I will seek out when it opens. Thanks for highlighting it! I had not heard about it before. I hope it does well among all the summer blockbusters.
We won’t be able to see it at the theaters, going by the opening list at the website, it won’t be playing here (not surprising). The closest will be next door in MN. I will most likely just end up buying it, it’s the sort of thing which will give me much joy.

Damn! I had not checked the list. The only showing in NC is in Charlotte. Too far for us to travel for a film. :-(

I have absolutely been waiting for this since I saw the first trailer about half a year ago. Maybe more. I doubt it will get to theatres here, but I will be keeping an eye out for other appearances, probably later in the year. I’m getting the steel bands around my heart tightened in preparation, these sorts of things tend to expand the emotional reactions beyond actual capacity.

Interesting. I wonder if it’ll be released in Australia any time soon. It looks enjoyable.

If it’s released on DVD you’ll be able to get it on Ebay within a couple days of the release. Nowadays Ebay sellers are starting to take pre-orders, which is pretty cool, too :)

This looks great! I loved his earlier film 20 Feet From Stardom. I already knew about Merry Clayton’s scream on Gimme Shelter (though not how to spell her name), so it was great to learn more about that world. The world where the colored girls stand in the back and go “do de doo, de doo, do de doo doo…”
So while waiting for this movie to come out, I recommend checking out that one.
