It’s icy and melting in strange random ways — not uniformly at all, but the surface is getting spiky with odd shapes appearing. Like this example outside my door:

You get interesting patterns when the snow is melted by solar radiation and the moisture mostly evaporates, rather than runs away.
Here we’ve had copious rains that melted pretty all the snow in the heart of winter, and again a couple weeks ago, after new snow had fallen. Now it’s about proper time for snowmelt, and we just had MORE snowfall this week. It’s going to melt soon, and the soil is already too wet to hold all the water.
The last snowfall this Saturday torpedoed the game I was going to run at Gary Con that morning. I live about 40 minutes away from Lake Geneva, and even though the weather report heralded the storm’s coming a week earlier, the local municipalities took their sweet time plowing the freeways.
Looks like I’m going to need to save up my pennies and rent a room at or near the resort for next year.

I wanted to walk to the store and get some odds and ends today, but weather change brought a barometric pressure change and that 440 volts feeling down my leg suggested walking anywhere farther than the bathroom is a really bad idea.

OT: DeSantis now wants freedom of the press protections removed. Oddly, the very protections Fox News is relying upon in the Dominion case, just to target any journalism directed against conservatives.
Apparently, now states can overturn SCOTUS case law from 1964. Conservative media is freaking out, as that same law can then be levied against them.

OT: New news. DeSantis puppet regime over Disney had much of their powers stripped before his puppet appointees began their session by the outgoing board via various contracts at the behest of Disney.
The puppet board is now negotiating with a half dozen or so law firms to try to undo the contracts, claiming all manner of outlandish authority and promising to undo all contracts if necessary, etc.
In short, more money from the state and county coffers go out the window for fruitless wastes of taxpayer dollars.
Meanwhile, Disney is laying off thousands of employees. Less taxpayers working, less tourism, total win! Or something.
