A dignified white Christian

Check out these tweets from a resident of Kent, Washington, where I grew up.

One of Kayryakoff’s tweets called Mexicans one of the “ridiculous immature vile cruel and extremely evil cultures that need to be genocided!”

Another called Mormonism “an illegally recognized religion that is covertly operating for the Muslim nation.”

“Jews dont belong in Christian countries what do they not understand?” read one tweet. “I only associate with dignified Christian people & more so focus on white Christian people We are the success in the world!” she tweeted on another occasion.

Would you believe she was a first grade teacher? Would you believe she got her job despite having two misdemeanor battery convictions on her record? That she terrorized her students? OK, I know all my fellow Washingtonians will be unsurprised by one fact: she’s a California transplant.

But get this: she wasn’t fired. She was shuffled out of her school, she was demoted to being a PE teacher (those were always the worst), and reassigned to a different elementary school. She also shut down her Twitter account; maybe she’s on Gab now?

I suspect she won’t last long as a PE teacher either. She seems like the kind of person who will keep spewing crap until it becomes impossible not to fire her.

While there are quite a few negative things you can say about the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, it founders, it’s theology, etc. (I recommend Bryce Blankenagel’s “Naked Mormonism” podcast), this is just bonkers. First of all, with the possible exception of applying for tax exempt status, the government doesn’t have the power to “recognize” a religion. As for the Muslim stuff… huh???

    @#2, Akira MacKenzie:

Tax exemption is active recognition, but there are passive recognitions, too — things which a religion can do without legal repercussions.

If you were to go out in public and proclaim on a street corner that everybody in Israel should be killed because of how they treat Palestinians, you would (rightly) be considered to be inciting violence and might get hauled off by the cops. But if you were to go out in public and proclaim on a street corner that everybody in Israel should be killed because it’s a Jewish nation and “the Jews killed Jesus”, people might find you embarrassing and evil but they would look the other way and call you “old fashioned”.

Make up a series of random exercises, tell people that performing them will cure cancer, and charge them for the descriptions, and you’ll be investigated and perhaps sued. Tell people that if they get down on their knees and pray hard enough god will cure their cancer, and incidentally it won’t hurt if they give money to your church, and the courts will keep their hands off.

    1) Mormonism was founded in support of polygamy
    2) Islam supports polygamy
    3) ?????
    4) Polygamy == polygamy ! ! !
    5) ?????
    6) Therefore, Mormonism == Islam. QED.

I think the point is that the words ‘dignified’ and ‘Christian’ are about as apposite as ‘dry’ and ‘water’.

I am seriously scratching my head over how her opinions override the very first amendment.

Or is this a reinforcement of Trump refusing to leave office if removed or another is reelected?
    Saw that very question today.
So, someone no longer in office will order someone…
Nope, the new POTUS is Chief.
